Celebrate the Season

By Gemma
December 2005

For the Season, I have a poem that tries to express the wonder of even a modern-day Christmas. So many of us grumble about the Christmas rigmarole now - and it has been commercially used and abused almost everywhere - yet, at heart Christmas still houses the newborn promise of God for all peoples, however dressed up its message: It is a time to especially celebrate Truth. Without embracing excess, we can appreciate the sights and sounds. As we are filled to the fullness of Holy Spirit, He enables us to find good, and pure enjoyment, and blessing almost everywhere - in poverty and in plenty. He will help us to see deeply into all that is around us - even if only one tiny corner of our personal world glows.

Most of all this Christmas, know that you are precious, a child of God and the most beloved of Christ!
In Jesus' strong embrace,
Gemma

CELEBRATE THE SEASON

Amidst the tiring hustle and happy bustle
Or the lack of any funds
Invite Christ into Christmas.
Then, wait;
His lovely gifts are coming!
True Love, Peace, Joy... surprising revelation...
Power, wrapped in Mystery...
And, Eternal meaning
To lift us up and let us soar!

So laugh, Beloved!
Overflow with enjoyment wherever you are
Freely notice every blessing and beauty this year
Whether small or great, near or far, yours or not
Thank You!
For childrens' smiles
Wafting aromas
Of cinnamon spice; crackling pine fires
Snowflakes, and glittering sparkles of fairy-light
Blood-red bows, large and full
Green, spiky boughs and golden braid tassels:
All dazzle at Christmastime

But celebrate
Amidst the tiring hustle and happy bustle
Or the lack of any funds
His lovely gifts are here!
To lift us up and let us soar!
So laugh, Beloved!
Each new treasure,
Every pleasant fragrance, every good sight
Speaks His bounty.
Sing out, then!
Glow Jesus!
Give His gifts of Love, Peace, Joy
Give as much as you can to those who cannot see such wonder

Celebrate His Season!
